DEGREE COURSES ON 4.0 DIGITAL DISCIPLINES

Technological innovation is radically reshaping today’s job market and, as a result, its skills needs. In-demand skills are more and more focused on the digital and 4.0 world and include data analysis, artificial intelligence, software development and digital transformation. In 2019, academia and industry set out on a co-design path with the establishment of a Degree Course in Digital Marketing and as a result of this common ground, new digital tech degrees are now springing in Reggio Emilia.

The fourth university campus at the Innovation Park

Within the context of a cohesive collaborative effort between the public and private sectors and a shared vision for a competitive repositioning of the area to make it more attractive, Unindustria Reggio Emilia, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and the company STU Reggiane teamed up through an agreement signed in November 2021 to create a training hub with digital culture as the core of the curriculum. The location will be the Innovation Park, formerly the industrial site of Officine Reggiane.

The establishment of the Fourth University Campus in Reggio Emilia devoted to skills for the digital world, with the launch of the Master’s Degree in Digital Automation Engineering and a Degree in Business and Financial Data Analysis, holds special significance within the scope of the Unimore 2019-2025 Strategic Plan. The new degree courses were designed following fruitful discussions with Unindustria, which put forward a list of in-demand professions based on the needs of its members.

In addition, Unindustria Reggio Emilia is now active in raising funds from its members to help finance the expansion of the degree-level digital tech programmes. The Municipality of Reggio Emilia purchased the spaces and services that will serve as the university’s location. STU Reggiane will be constructing the buildings. And Unimore, which has taken on the lease of the property under usufructuary rights for 29 years, will transfer two degree courses to the new location and has committed to launch another two.
